Getting ready for the Scrumpy Skedaddle

This is my first post and I'm really excited to be sharing my running experience with you all. This week I've been getting ready for Running Fit's Scrumpy Skedaddle 10K. The race is billed as a scenic trail run through Almar Orchards, home of J.K. Scrumpy hard cider. I ran the Hightail to Ale earlier this year, the first installment of Running Fit's Thirsty Three beverage-themed running experiences, and had a really great time, and I have high hopes for this Sunday's run as well. I'll be running with a couple of other folks from our 2014 Ragnar Chicago team, and a few of us are planning on bringing the whole family, so the cheering section should be really robust! This will be my first 10K, so I'm a little nervous about the race, but am looking forward to posting an automatic PR. Don't look for a blistering pace, though. I was out of commission most of August and the first half of September for a foot injury and let's just say that my training runs since I got back into my shoes have been a challenge from both a distance and pacing perspective. I'm hoping to make it the distance without backing down to an alternating run/walk for final miles, but the event promises to be a good time either way. Here's the scene at my local Running Fit store, where event organizers offered early packet pickup. Can't wait to fill you in on Sunday's Skedaddle!
